Instagram Alchemy is not your typical approach to Instagram. It’s the antidote to influencer-culture and bro-marketing tactics that have sucked the connection and creativity out of using Instagram, and that ignore the needs of writers and authors.
Instead of living in service to the algorithms and wasting time on tactics that don’t work for you, Instagram Alchemy is an opportunity to take elements you already possess, and combine them with my expertise and insights, to create something new, enriching and productive.
You will find new readers when you follow the Instagram Alchemy method, but you’ll do it in a way that prioritises your values, needs and capacity, and that keeps Instagram firmly in perspective.
Element 1: YOU
We start by exploring what you want your relationship with Instagram to be like and what barriers, concerns, or areas for development you currently have when it comes to using the platform. We identify your goals, your timeline or phase of publication, and finally we consider what your capacity is for tackling this new challenge.
Element 2: YOUR BOOK
We explore the contents, ideas and themes of your book, and consider where it sits in the market, as well as defining how your book is going to transform* the lives of its readers.
*every book has intrinsic value.
Element 3: YOUR READER
We work to define who your ideal reader is: who is it you’re trying to reach through your Instagram presence? This knowledge is essential if we’re to use Instagram to find, attract and nurture your relationship with these people so they become your readers and your biggest cheerleaders.
Element 4: YOUR CONTENT STRATEGY
This is where many online Instagram ‘gurus’ begin their work: all of the emphasis is on what to post.
In contrast, Instagram Alchemy requires you to combine what you know about your reader, your book, and yourself to craft engaging and appealing posts for your reader that will be more effective than any bolt-on generic post ideas could ever be.
At this point, we select key themes and ideas in your books and writing and use them to create a bespoke framework. This framework then holds the sustainable generation of a consistent supply of post ideas that you can be confident will appeal to the right people.
Element 5: YOUR PREFERENCES
Next, we bring together all of the elements identified so far - you + your ideal reader + your content strategy + your bespoke individual post ideas - and combine it with your skill level and your capacity to decide which tactics - post formats, hooks, audio, collaborators, editing, timing, cadence, engagement, collaborations etc. - and daily/ weekly routines, are appropriate for you.
Element 6: TIME
The most underestimated element in success on Instagram is whether you give yourself the time to test and refine your approach.
Together, we’ll experiment with different ‘packaging’ for your ideas, taking advantage of the most up-to-date (relevant) trends and latest tactics, constantly monitoring and evaluating which ideas, formats, and creatives deliver the results you are looking for.
At the same time I’ll support you to develop new skills gently, or at speed - whatever works for you - and I’ll create the safety for you to take risks and alchemise an approach to Instagram that works for you.
